Is Invisalign the right treatment for you?

If you are considering orthodontic treatment, you may have heard of Invisalign. Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners that can straighten your teeth without the need for metal brackets or wires. It is an excellent option for adults and teens who want a discreet way to improve their smiles without worrying about how traditional braces look.

Benefits of Invisalign

One of the primary benefits of Invisalign is that they are virtually invisible when worn, making them ideal for anyone who wants to discreetly straighten their teeth while still having a natural-looking smile. Additionally, these aligners are easy to remove and clean, allowing patients to enjoy all their favorite foods without worrying about food getting stuck in brackets or wires. Plus, since they are removable, brushing and flossing your teeth will be much easier than with traditional braces.

In addition to comfort and convenience, Invisalign also offers fast results compared with traditional braces because they use advanced 3D imaging technology to plan out an entire course of treatment from start to finish before you even begin
wearing them.

Another benefit of using Invisalign is that it allows individuals the flexibility to choose how long each set of aligners will be worn — typically every week — meaning treatment can be tailored around personal schedules or situations such as weddings or vacations. This level of flexibility makes it possible for many people who would not have been able to commit to a traditional two-year orthodontic treatment plan with traditional braces, but still get the same quality results in as little time as possible while still maintaining control over their own schedule.

The main benefits of Invisalign are outlined below

  1. Straighter teeth in 3 months
  2. Clear braces, so nobody will know
  3. Close gaps, fix overbites and misaligned teeth
  4. Save time with fewer clinic visits
  5. Affordable with 0% finance plans

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign treatment begins with an initial consultation with your dentist or orthodontist. During this appointment, your doctor will take photographs and scans of your teeth and create a digital 3D image. This image will be used to design a custom-made series of aligners for you. The number of aligners you need depends on the complexity of your case; typically, patients will have between 20-50 sets in total.

Once these aligners are created, they will be shipped directly to your doctor’s clinic where they can be fitted onto your teeth. Typically, you will switch out each set every week and each new set will move your teeth slightly closer to the desired position. Occasionally, some minor adjustments may need to be made as well; if so, they can usually be done during regular dental visits.

What you get with Ruh Dental

We provide a comprehensive cosmetic dental service with Invisalign at the forefront of the journey. Traditional cosmetic dentistry tends to require drilling and adjustment of the teeth for porcelain veneers or crowns to improve the aesthetics of the teeth. The problem with this is that this can often leave the teeth heavily adjusted and cut back – especially if the teeth are not straight.

We believe the less adjustment of the teeth, the better and as a result prefer to use Invisalign to help align the teeth and improve the appearance of them. This requires no drilling or cutting back of the teeth like traditional porcelain veneers or crowns. This will ensure that your teeth are preserved for as long as possible and last a lifetime.

Furthermore, once the teeth have been straightened with Invisalign, you can then consider some whitening and/or also some minimally invasive composite bonding which can enhance the appearance of the teeth further.

Years of experience

It can be difficult to decide who to see for Invisalign as it seems that everyone is providing this type of treatment, not to mention the online teeth straightening companies that are out there.

We have over 50 years of combined experience using the Invisalign system which is reflected in our Invisalign Diamond Apex Status – being categorized in the top 1% of Invisalign providers in Europe.

Patient journey from start to finish

Invisalign treatment begins with an initial consultation to discuss your concerns, needs and wants. During this appointment, your doctor will take photographs and 3D digital scan of your to generate a smile simulation, to give you a vague idea of what can be achieved.

If you decide to proceed with treatment, the next step would be to obtain a clincheck. This is a 3D simulation which is created by your treating dentist and Invisalign technician. This shows in more detail the staging of your tooth movement and how the teeth are likely to appear at the end. It will also show you how many aligners are needed in this course of treatment in addition to where and how the attachments (tooth coloured buttons which are applied to the teeth) will be placed.

Please see below this 3D simulation

This simulation will be used to design a custom-made series of aligners for you. The number of aligners you need depends on the complexity of your case; typically, patients will have between 15-50 sets in total.

Once these aligners are created, they will be shipped directly to your doctor’s clinic where they can be fitted onto your teeth. Typically, you will switch out each set every week and each new set will move your teeth slightly closer to the desired position.

The best part about Invisalign is that it’s nearly invisible, meaning nobody has to know that you’re wearing them! Each set is designed with comfort in mind and should fit snugly against your gums without causing any discomfort or irritation. You should also remove them whenever eating or drinking anything other than water (as food particles can get stuck in the aligners). It’s recommended that you wear them for at least 22 hours per day for optimal results.

What alternatives to Invisalign are there?

Invisalign is a popular orthodontic treatment that can help straighten teeth and correct misaligned bites. However, this isn’t the only option available for patients who are looking to improve their smile.

Traditional Braces

For those who may not be interested in Invisalign, traditional braces are still an effective and popular choice for orthodontic treatments. These braces are made up of metal brackets, wires, and bands that fit around each tooth to gradually move teeth into proper alignment. Unlike Invisalign, traditional braces require repeated check-ups and wire adjustments as well as diligent brushing and flossing habits to keep them clean.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces work in much the same way as traditional braces but with one major difference: they blend in with your natural teeth color! This makes them less noticeable than traditional metal braces while still providing the same level of efficacy. The downside is that ceramic brackets can be more fragile than metal brackets and may need to be replaced more frequently during your treatment period. Additionally, they tend to be more expensive than traditional braces.

Lingual Braces

These types of braces are placed on the inside of the teeth so are the most discreet of the fixed metal brace options in this section. However, due to the high level of skill and expertise needed for this type of treatment, there are not as many clinicians who perform this type of treatment. The cost of this treatment is also significantly higher than all of the other options.
